Brandon Stephens New York Jets Contract Announcement

Baltimore, Md. — Brandon Stephens, a former cornerback for the Baltimore Ravens, has officially signed a three-year contract worth $36 million with the New York Jets. The agreement, which was finalized on Wednesday, includes a full guarantee of $23 million.

The contract was negotiated by agent David Mulugheta of Athletes First. Stephens, 28, was initially considered a strong candidate for a contract extension with the Ravens due to his potential and performance during earlier games this season.

However, his play declined significantly, making him a liability in coverage. According to statistics, Stephens recorded a dismal 50.7 coverage grade, ranking him 175th out of 223 cornerbacks in the NFL this season. Additionally, he achieved a passer rating allowed of 107.4, placing him 57th among cornerbacks in the league.

In response to Stephens’ departure, the Ravens are expected to continue with a defensive lineup featuring Nate Wiggins and Marlon Humphrey, while they may also utilize the talents of second-year cornerback T.J. Tampa.

While Baltimore will miss Stephens’ initial promise, the Ravens are looking to reinforce their defense in preparation for the remainder of the season.
