Brazil’s First Lady Janja Lula da Silva Tells Elon Musk ‘F**k You’ at G20 Event
Brazil‘s first lady, Janja Lula da Silva, made headlines over the weekend by using an expletive against billionaire Elon Musk during an event ahead of the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro. The incident occurred during a panel discussion focused on tackling misinformation on social media.
Janja Lula da Silva, wife of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, was emphasizing the need to combat fake news and regulate social media networks. When a loud noise interrupted her speech, she jokingly remarked, “I think it’s Elon Musk.” She then asserted that she wasn’t afraid of him and added, “F*** you, Elon Musk.”
The tension between Janja Lula da Silva and Elon Musk is part of a broader strained relationship between Musk and Brazil’s left-wing government. Earlier this year, Brazil’s Supreme Court ordered a nationwide ban on X (formerly Twitter), which Musk owns, due to its failure to name a legal representative in the country and suspend accounts spreading misinformation.
Musk has faced criticism for his handling of X, particularly for allowing fake news and extremist content to go unchecked. His recent appointment to co-lead a new department of government efficiency in the U.S. has also been controversial, given his close alliance with former President Donald Trump.
