Brooks Koepka Shares Lead at French Open with Stellar Performance

PARIS, France — Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka surged ahead with a remarkable performance at the French Open, finishing the day with a 6-under 65 on Saturday. Koepka’s successful round included five consecutive birdies on the back nine, putting him in a tie for the lead.
He and Australia’s Min Woo Lee, who shot a 68, are both at 11-under 202. They are in close range ahead of Michael Kim and two other competitors, who stay just one shot behind in the standings.
This competition marks Koepka’s third consecutive week on the European Tour. Earlier this month, he faced challenges, missing the cut in both the Irish Open and the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. Koepka has struggled in 2025, missing the cut in three out of four majors so far.
Koepka’s last victory came in August 2024, when he won at the LIV Golf League event at the Greenbrier in West Virginia. Despite recent setbacks, he remains optimistic about his performance. “I feel like my game has been trending in the right direction,” Koepka said. “It’s the results haven’t been there. I feel a lot closer. I’m pleased with the work I’ve put in over the last few months, and nothing has shown, so hopefully got a chance to win tomorrow.”
He credited his strong performance at Golf de Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche largely to his improved putting. In total, Koepka registered eight birdies during the round but ended on a sour note with a bogey on the par-3 18th after missing a 6-foot putt.
Earlier this year, Kim secured his first PGA Tour title at the Houston Open but faced challenges advancing beyond the first round of the FedEx Cup playoffs. Joining Kim in the chase for the lead are Guido Migliozzi from Italy and Marcus Armitage from England, who both remain just one shot off the pace after shooting 66 and 71, respectively.
