Bucks’ Kevin Porter Jr. Ruled Out with Ankle Injury for Raptors Game
Milwaukee, WI – The Milwaukee Bucks will be without point guard Kevin Porter Jr. for their game against the Toronto Raptors on Friday. Porter has been ruled out due to a left ankle sprain he sustained during Wednesday’s season opener against the Washington Wizards.
Bucks head coach Doc Rivers provided an update on Porter’s condition, stating, “It didn’t look good, I’ll just say that. We just gotta hope for the best. Looking at it, it was a pretty bad sprain.” After undergoing an MRI on Thursday, Rivers confirmed that the news was not positive.
Porter had started the game against the Wizards and contributed 10 points, two assists, and one rebound in just nine minutes before exiting the contest. As of now, Porter is listed as day-to-day regarding his recovery.
With Porter sidelined, Ryan Rollins is expected to start at point guard, while Cole Anthony will likely see increased playing time against the Raptors. Meanwhile, Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is also on the injury report due to a left great toe sprain, although he is anticipated to play.
In the earlier game against the Wizards, Antetokounmpo had an outstanding performance, scoring 37 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and recording five assists in 27 minutes. He had entered the opener listed as probable because of a back issue but managed to play effectively.
Last season, Antetokounmpo averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. The Bucks finished the season with a 48-34 record overall and 31-21 in the Eastern Conference, while the Raptors struggled, concluding their season with a 30-52 record.
The Bucks aim for a strong start to their season against the Raptors, with the game scheduled for Friday evening.
