Milwaukee, WI – The Milwaukee Bucks waived forward Chris Livingston on Thursday, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The move comes as the team addresses a roster crunch ahead of the upcoming season.

Livingston, the last pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, signed a guaranteed contract with the Bucks in the offseason. However, he had limited playing time, appearing in only 21 regular-season games during the 2024-25 season. In those games, he averaged 5.0 minutes per contest and shot 33.3 percent from the field.

During his time with the Wisconsin Herd in the G League, Livingston showcased more potential, averaging 18.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.1 steals over 18 games. His shooting percentages were significantly better, hitting 48.5 percent from the field, 30.1 percent from three-point range, and 82.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Despite his promising performance in the G League and earlier success in the Summer League, the Bucks were unable to retain him. Livingston’s previous contract was not guaranteed for the 2025-26 season, but his new deal was fully guaranteed, leading to a dead cap hit of $2,296,274 for the team following his release.

With Livingston’s departure, the Bucks aim to solidify their roster. The team now considers options for the final spots on the roster, potentially opening opportunities for other players like Andre Jackson Jr. and Amir Coffey, who are also vying for positions on the team.

Livingston, who recently turned 22, now faces uncertainty as he looks for a new opportunity after his time with the Bucks.
