Buffalo Aims for Victory Against Eastern Michigan in MAC Showdown
Buffalo, NY – The University at Buffalo Bulls (2-3, 1-0 MAC) are set to take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles (1-4, 0-1 MAC) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at UB Stadium. With both teams struggling this season, a win is crucial for maintaining bowl game aspirations.
Buffalo’s defense enters the game among the nation’s leaders in sacks, with 17 total this season — the fourth most in the country. The Bulls look to pressure EMU quarterback Noah Kim, who has been sacked seven times this year. Buffalo linebacker Kobe Stewart leads the team with 2½ sacks, while several players, including Dion Crawford and Red Murdock, have contributed two each.
For Buffalo to succeed, winning the turnover battle is essential. Murdock, a graduate student, recently forced a fumble against UConn, bringing his career total to 14 and just two shy of Khalil Mack’s NCAA record of 16. The Bulls have a chance to capitalize on EMU’s offense, which has committed turnovers, including two lost fumbles this season.
On the offensive side, quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson’s potential return could provide a much-needed boost. After throwing for 318 yards in a comeback win at Kent State, his presence could help establish a balanced attack alongside running back Al-Jay Henderson. Roberson exited the previous game with a leg injury, but coach Pete Lembo indicated he is probable for Saturday.
Field position will play a significant role in the game. Buffalo’s special teams have shined this season, recording three blocked punts — the most in the nation. Victor Snow is also a prominent punt returner, accumulating 330 career punt return yards, ranking sixth in program history.
As Buffalo prepares for Saturday’s matchup, they aim to end their two-game losing streak and push for a critical win that could reshape the course of their season.
