The 2024-25 NHL regular season will commence with the Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils playing two games at the O2 Arena in Prague, Czechia. These matches are part of the 2024 NHL Global Series Czechia, presented by Fastenal, scheduled for October 4 and 5. Fans can tune in on various networks, including MSGSN, NHLN, and SN, to watch this event.

Buffalo and New Jersey will compete in back-to-back matches in Prague before returning for the regular season games in North America. The Sabres arrive in Prague following a successful exhibition game in Munich, Germany, where they secured a 5-0 victory against EHC Red Bull München in the 2024 NHL Global Series Challenge, with local player JJ Peterka scoring a notable goal.

This series marks a significant moment for the Devils, who carry a 23-10-8 record in international contexts and look to continue their winning streak overseas, having triumphed in their only previous regular-season game outside North America in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The star players for these games include Jack Hughes of the Devils and Rasmus Dahlin of the Sabres. Hughes, who has a record of impressive performances in season openers, will be looking to add to his point tally. Dahlin, on the other hand, leads his team as captain and seeks to make history by reaching 300 career points before turning 25, a milestone also anticipated for Quinn Hughes of the Canucks.

Another focal point will be Ondrej Palat, originally from Czechia, who will be playing on home turf. Palat aims to join the ranks of Czechia-born players who have made a mark in NHL games played in the country.

In addition to the on-ice action, Amazon Prime Video is set to launch “FACEOFF: Inside the NHL,” a new docuseries offering an inside look at NHL players’ lives. The docuseries features NHL stars like David Pastrnak and is part of a broader collaboration between the NHL and Amazon, alongside initiatives such as Prime Monday Night Hockey and NHL Coast to Coast.
