The long-anticipated clash between two of the most prominent figures in women’s kickboxing, Jackie Buntan and Anissa Meksen, is confirmed for the inaugural ONE Women’s Strawweight Kickboxing World Title. The event will take place on Friday, November 8, in U.S. primetime at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Originally scheduled to meet in July, Buntan was compelled to withdraw from the initial date due to an injury. Now fully recovered, the 27-year-old fighter is ready to compete for the title, entering the bout with an impressive 6-1 record in ONE Championship, the world’s largest martial arts organization. Buntan’s only defeat was a closely contested decision against Samara Santos for the inaugural ONE Women’s Strawweight Muay Thai World Title. Her return to form includes three commanding victories that led to this title opportunity.

Anissa Meksen, joining ONE Championship with an illustrious history in kickboxing, has previously held prestigious titles including the Glory and ISKA Kickboxing World Titles. Meksen quickly made her mark with a 3-0 record in the promotion, underscoring the skills that solidified her reputation as a top contender across weight classes. However, she experienced a setback in her most recent match against Janet Todd for the ONE Interim Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing World Title and is determined to bounce back with a win against Buntan.

With a remarkable professional record of 103-6, Meksen is recognized as “C18” in the kickboxing community. Despite her veteran status, the 36-year-old remains eager to secure one of the sport’s most esteemed titles. Buntan, who trains alongside former ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion Janet Todd at the Boxing Works gym in California, seeks to cement her legacy by winning the ONE World Title.

Fans of kickboxing and martial arts are closely monitoring the buildup to ONE 169, as this event promises to be an explosive encounter between seasoned experience and youthful prowess. Further updates and details about this matchup will be available through ONE Championship’s official channels.
