Caf Champions League Draw 2024

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) conducted the official draw for the Group Stages of the 2024-25 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup Monday afternoon in Cairo, Egypt. According to sources, the draw was live-streamed on CAF’s official YouTube Channel, CAF TV, with the Confederation Cup starting at 13:00 Cairo Time (10:00 GMT) and followed by the Champions League draw at 14:00 Cairo Time (11:00 GMT).

During the event, 16 clubs were drawn into four groups of four teams each for both competitions. The process was overseen by four CAF Legends, namely Naby Keita from Guinea, Ahmed Fathy from Egypt, former DR Congo coach Florent Ibenge, and Siphiwe Tshabalala from South Africa.

Defending champions Al Ahly, who boast a record 12-time wins in the tournament, find themselves in a demanding Group C alongside South Africa’s Orlando Pirates, CR Belouizdad from Algeria, and Ivory Coast’s Stade d'Abidjan. Al Ahly has faced challenges in the group stages in recent years, making this group particularly noteworthy.

Meanwhile, Group B presents another competitive set-up with South African team Mamelodi Sundowns competing against Moroccan clubs Raja Casablanca and AS FAR, as well as Maniema Union from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Group A features five-time African champions Tout Puissant Mazembe from DR Congo, who will play alongside Tanzania’s Young Africans, Sudan’s Al Hilal, and MC Alger from Algeria. Last season’s finalists, Esperance of Tunisia, are positioned in Group D, where they will compete with Pyramids FC from Egypt, Angola’s Sagrada Esperanca, and Djoliba AC from Mali.

The group stage matches are scheduled to commence on the weekend of November 26-27, with the final matches planned for January 17-18.
