Canada and Finland Unveil Jerseys for 2026 Winter Olympics Ice Hockey
MILANO, Italy — As the countdown to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games begins, Hockey Canada and Hockey Finland have revealed the official jerseys their teams will wear during the tournament. This marks the first time NHL players will participate since 2014, generating excitement among fans.
On Thursday, both nations showcased their jerseys on social media. Canada’s new designs feature a white jersey with a red maple leaf crest and a red jersey displaying a black maple leaf. Finland’s jerseys prominently display the country’s crest, which features a crowned lion.
The men’s hockey tournament kicks off on February 11, starting with a matchup between Team Slovakia and Team Finland, followed by a game between Team Sweden and host Team Italy. Each of the twelve participating teams will play three preliminary games, leading into a single-elimination playoff culminating in the gold medal match on February 22.
Team USA, part of Group C, will begin its tournament against Team Latvia on February 12, followed by games against Team Denmark and Team Germany. Meanwhile, Team Canada is set to play Team Czechia and Team Switzerland on February 12 and 14, respectively, before wrapping up its preliminary matches against Team France on February 15.
The excitement is palpable, particularly as it has been eight years since NHL players last participated in the Olympics due to the league’s restriction from 2018-2022. Leading Canadian athletes, including stars like Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid, will be suiting up, drawing attention to the competitive nature of the upcoming games.
Katherine Henderson, president and CEO of Hockey Canada, expressed pride in the new jerseys, stating, “These Olympic and Paralympic jerseys perfectly reflect Canadian hockey and the passion Canadian fans bring when cheering on our athletes.” David Shoemaker, CEO of the Canadian Olympic Committee, echoed this sentiment as he looked forward to the historic moment when NHL players represent their countries again.
The women’s tournament starts on February 5, with Team Canada seeking to defend their gold medal. Following that, the para hockey tournament will begin on March 6.
