Washington Capitals Locker Room Transformation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Capitals are set to debut their newly renovated locker room and game preparation facilities at Capital One Arena on October 8, 2025, just in time for their 2025-26 season opener against the Boston Bruins. The unveiling marks a significant milestone in Phase One of Monumental Sports & Entertainment‘s (MSE) $1 billion transformation project aimed at enhancing the athlete experience and improving fan engagement.

Jordan Silberman, President of Venues at MSE, emphasized the focus on building championship-caliber teams. “Our goal at Monumental is to build championship-caliber teams, and that starts with providing the elite resources athletes need to perform at their best,” he said. The redesigned locker room, more than double the size of the previous one, includes features tailored for professional hockey players’ game day routines, such as a family lounge and upgraded media facilities.

In addition to the Capitals, the Washington Wizards are also undergoing upgrades to their facilities, which are expected to be completed ahead of the NBA season. As Phase One of the arena transformation nears completion, fans can expect new escalators and improved seating areas, along with premium experiences like the United Globe Club and the Lexus Vaults.

This transformation is a collaboration between MSE and the city of Washington, D.C., aimed at creating a community-focused arena that can serve millions each year. The fully modernized Capital One Arena is projected to open in time for the 2027-28 NBA and NHL seasons.

Capitals players have already expressed excitement about the upgrades. Trevor van Riemsdyk and Aliaksei Protas were among those impressed with the new locker room, with Protas exclaiming, “Wow!” Charlie Lindgren added, “Holy cow!” The Capitals will first experience their revamped facilities when they take on the Bruins tonight.
