Carey Mulligan Reveals Dramatic Encounter With Co Star Bradley Cooper On Set Of 'maestro'

During a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, actress Carey Mulligan opened up about her dramatic encounter with co-star Bradley Cooper on the set of their latest film, ‘Maestro‘.

The pair first met backstage at one of Mulligan’s stage plays, where she had an unfortunate accident. Mulligan explained, ‘During the show, a bit of set hit me on the head. I carried on but when it was over, I started crying and thought I was a goner.’

It was at that moment when Bradley Cooper, who portrays the late composer Leonard Bernstein in ‘Maestro’, realized something was wrong. Cooper insisted on taking Mulligan to the emergency room, interrupting their first meeting.

Recalling the incident, Mulligan humorously added, ‘I was sobbing on the floor when Bradley turned up and, realizing I wasn’t okay, he took me to the hospital. You can imagine how delighted the nurse was!’

Directed by Cooper himself, ‘Maestro’ delves into the tumultuous relationship between Leonard Bernstein and his wife, Felicia Montealegre, played by Mulligan. The film explores the life and career of the acclaimed conductor and composer.

Prior to its release, ‘Maestro’ faced some controversy over Cooper’s use of a prosthetic nose to amplify his resemblance to the late Jewish conductor. The family of Leonard Bernstein, however, supported Cooper’s portrayal and expressed their approval.

‘It happens to be true that Leonard Bernstein had a nice, big nose. Bradley chose to use make-up to amplify his resemblance, and we’re perfectly fine with that. We’re also certain that our dad would have been fine with it as well,’ they stated in their defense.

‘Maestro’ received critical acclaim following its release, with both Cooper and Mulligan receiving praise for their performances. The film has also garnered nominations in major categories, including Best Actor and Best Actress.

‘Cooper is effortlessly charming in a film that’s been making headlines for all the wrong reasons, and his co-star Carey Mulligan is magnificent,’ one critic wrote.

‘Maestro’ is now available for streaming on Netflix, taking audiences on a captivating journey into the life of Leonard Bernstein and his complex relationships.
