Carmelo Anthony Nba Analyst Debut Outfit

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Basketball fans reacted strongly Tuesday night when Carmelo Anthony appeared on the highly anticipated return of NBA on NBC after a 23-year hiatus. Anthony made his debut as an analyst on NBC’s pregame show just before the season opener, but his casual attire caught many off guard.

While his fellow analysts, Maria Taylor, Tracy McGrady, and Vince Carter, dressed in suits, Anthony opted for a black quarter-zip sweatshirt and sunglasses, which drew criticism on social media. Fans expressed their disappointment, with one stating, “Carmelo Anthony can’t class it up with appropriate attire for the tv presentation?! Smh.”

Another fan commented humorously, “Carmelo thought this was a Podcast. He on the NBC set with a quarter zip up,” complete with laughing emojis. A third remarked, “Carmelo out there looking like he still playing in that Zip-up jacket while everyone else got suits on.”

NBC regained the media rights to air NBA games ahead of the 2025-26 season and celebrated this occasion with a nostalgic ’90s theme. The network recruited Anthony to strengthen its roster of analysts, including basketball legends like Carter, McGrady, and Reggie Miller, along with Michael Jordan as a special contributor.

In May, Anthony expressed his excitement about joining NBC Sports, stating, “Watching the NBA on NBC growing up shaped my love for the game. Now, I’m thrilled to join the NBC Sports family. I’ve always used my platform to help grow the game, and I’m excited to bring fans a fresh perspective as we usher in a new era of NBA coverage and programming.”

Despite the wardrobe criticism, Anthony’s extensive knowledge and experience in basketball were the primary focus during his segment. “As a Hall of Famer, a college national champion, and one of the most decorated basketball Olympians ever, Carmelo will bring a superstar perspective to our studio coverage,” the network stated in May.

While some may question his fashion choices, Anthony’s insight is what he was hired for, and it’s clear his style will attract attention as he settles into this new role.
