Carolina Hosts Military Appreciation Day and Homecoming This Saturday
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The University of North Carolina will celebrate Military Appreciation Day alongside Homecoming during its football game against Stanford this Saturday, Nov. 8. The game kicks off at 4:30 p.m. at Kenan Stadium.
Several events are planned to honor Tar Heel veterans. Flags from every military branch will be flown inside the stadium, and military members will be recognized during the game.
As part of the festivities, multi-platinum-selling soul pop group Fitz and The Tantrums will perform a free concert in Polk Place, presented by the Rams Club. The concert is set to start at 2:30 p.m. in front of Wilson Library.
Fitz and The Tantrums, known for their 2013 breakthrough album “More Than Just a Dream,” have released several hit singles including “Out of My League,” “The Walker,” and “HandClap.”
In addition to the concert, the Carolina football team will participate in the Old Well Walk, beginning at 2 p.m. Fans will be able to cheer as the team walks from the Old Well through Polk Place and around the Bell Tower to Kenan Stadium.
The Modelo Kickoff Club, now twice the size and relocated in front of the stage at Polk Place, will offer fans a great place to grab a drink. Entry is free, and alcohol will be available for purchase. Food trucks and large LED screens will be set up in the area, along with a dedicated student tailgate space.
UNC is collaborating with its tailgate activation partner REVELxp to ensure a festive Chapel Thrill Game Day, providing amenities across four quads. Fans can upgrade their game day experience by contacting REVELxp at 919-869-5486 or through their website.
Carolina alumni will continue the tradition of climbing the 128 steps from the ground to the fourth floor of the iconic Bell Tower before the home games.
