China Takes Early Lead at Paris 2024 Olympics with Golds in Shooting and Diving

In an exciting start to the Paris 2024 Olympics, China made a strong impression by winning the gold medal in the 10m air rifle mixed team event. The competition took place on Saturday and marked the first medal event of these Games.

Chinese shooters Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao showcased their skills, defeating the Republic of Korea‘s duo, Kim Jihyeon and Park Hajun, with a final score of 16-12 in a thrilling match.

China didn’t stop there; they clinched their second gold medal of the day in the women’s diving event, further establishing their dominance in the early stages of the Olympics.

On the other hand, Australia also shined brightly, securing two gold medals on the opening day. Their first win came in road cycling, followed by a spectacular performance in the swimming pool, where Ariarne Titmus triumphed over her fierce rivals, Canada’s Summer McIntosh and USA’s Katie Ledecky, to defend her title in the 400m freestyle.

As for the host nation, France celebrated its first gold medal during the Games when the men’s Rugby Sevens team triumphed over Fiji in the final.

Other nations that secured gold on the opening day included Belgium, Japan, Kazakhstan, and Germany, marking a competitive start to the 33rd edition of the Summer Olympics.
