Clemson Quarterback Christopher Vizzina Steps In After Klubnik Injury
CLEMSON, SC — Christopher Vizzina, third-year quarterback for Clemson, took the field to replace Cade Klubnik during the Tigers’ game against Boston College on October 7. Klubnik exited the game with a leg injury in the third quarter, as Clemson was leading 34-10.
Vizzina completed 25 of 45 passes for a total of 229 yards in his career, appearing in multiple games during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He has shown promise, scoring his first career touchdown against Appalachian State earlier this season and making his inaugural appearance in a game against Charleston Southern.
“We have a lot of trust in Vizzina,” said Coach Dabo Swinney. “He has been practicing well and can operate our offense effectively when called upon.” Vizzina was a highly-rated four-star recruit from Briarwood Christian High School in Birmingham, Alabama. Many top schools, including Georgia and Notre Dame, pursued him before he chose Clemson.
During Klubnik’s strong outing against Boston College, he completed 22 of 30 passes and threw for 280 yards before leaving the game. Clemson scored on every possession in the first half, ending with a 34-10 lead.
As Clemson looks to secure its fourth victory this season and improve its standing in the ACC, they will rely on Vizzina’s readiness to step up in crucial moments. The team is set to host SMU on October 18.
With Vizzina now stepping into a more significant role, fans and analysts alike will watch to see how he performs under pressure as the season progresses.
