Ridgeway, Va. – Corey Day is set to make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut on Saturday at the historic Martinsville Speedway, a 0.526-mile short track known for its challenging turns. The 19-year-old driver for Hendrick Motorsports is looking forward to the spotlight as he prepares to compete in the thrilling event.

Day completed a successful practice session on Friday, clocking in a lap of 20.189 seconds, securing the eighth starting position for the race. “That thing is a lot of fun,” Day remarked after his practice runs. “It’s got a lot of power and low downforce, and as a driver with my background, I love that.”

This weekend’s race at Martinsville is part of a tripleheader, with the Xfinity Series event following the Truck Series race, and culminating in the Cup Series event scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday. The excitement surrounding this particular event is heightened as it features local fans and a storied racing legacy.

In the Xfinity Series, Connor Zilisch and Carson Kvapil qualified in the top two positions during Friday’s session, each demonstrating the competitive nature of the upcoming race. Zilisch earned the pole position with a time of 19.888 seconds in the No. 88 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, while Kvapil followed closely in his No. 1 Chevrolet.

Richard Childress Racing‘s Austin Hill and Jesse Love completed the top four starters, providing a robust representation of young talent in the series. As teams prepare for what promises to be an intense race, all eyes will be on Day and his fellow rookies.

Hendrick Motorsports’ history at Martinsville adds another layer of anticipation. The team has claimed victory in the last three spring races at this iconic track, showcasing their dominance and strategic acumen in navigating its tight corners and short straightaways.

As Day embarks on this new chapter in his racing career, fans and competitors alike will be watching closely. He enters the race with a reputation built on hard work and talent, eager to prove himself among the best.

The Xfinity Series race starts at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, a signal of the fierce competition and camaraderie that defines NASCAR racing.
