Court Summons Witness Testimonies

A Coroner’s Court in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State has ordered substituted service on key witnesses in the ongoing inquest into the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

The court identified several individuals required to testify, including Azeez Fashola also known as Naira Marley; Samson Eletu, referred to as Sam Larry; Mohbad’s sister-in-law, Karimot Ogunbayo; Boluwatife Adeyemo, known as Darosha; and Mohbad’s lawyer, Oluwasanmi Falade.

Additionally, nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe, who treated Mohbad, and the driver Fidelis Esanbor who transported him to the hospital, are also among those listed for summons.

Magistrate T.A. Sotobi approved the request from Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, for the service of witness summons to be conducted through a reputable national newspaper and social media, allowing for prompt attendance of the witnesses.

The application was granted during the court’s hearing on August 16, and the legal team emphasized the need to reach the witnesses through these means due to previous difficulties in securing their attendance.

The court also agreed to recall Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, along with the police officer responsible for the case, ASP Muhammad Yusuf, to address new issues and clarify statements regarding an alleged altercation in Mohbad’s home.

Furthermore, the legal representation for Ibrahim Owodunni, also known as Primeboy, argued for these recalls to provide clarity on ambiguous statements regarding the circumstances of Mohbad’s demise.

The coroner has subsequently adjourned the case to allow for compliance with the witness summons and to facilitate the attendance of the required individuals in court.
