CHICAGO, IL — Veteran guard Courtney Vandersloot became the all-time leading scorer for the Chicago Sky during their 97-92 victory against the Dallas Wings on May 30, 2025. This win marked the team’s first of the 2025 WNBA season.

Vandersloot broke the franchise scoring record by surpassing her former teammate Allie Quigley, who held the previous mark with 3,273 career points. Vandersloot now boasts 3,274 points, as reported by StatMuse. She expressed her emotions after head coach Tyler Marsh delivered an inspiring locker room speech following the win.

“We’re only five games into the season, but everything you bring to this team, everything you’ve brought to the organization, we feel that,” Marsh said. “You are Chicago, you are the Sky, and we’re rocking with you forever.” The significance of the moment was felt deeply by Vandersloot.

“I haven’t even let it sink in yet, but it’s obviously very special,” Vandersloot stated. “Most of it is just how much this franchise has really poured into me from the beginning.” She added, “Records are meant to be broken, and this one will. But right now I’m enjoying it, I’m gonna let it soak in.”

Vandersloot has had a remarkable career since being drafted No. 3 overall in the 2011 WNBA Draft. After spending 12 seasons with the Sky, including four All-Star appearances and winning a championship in 2021, she returned to the team after two years with the New York Liberty.

In the game against the Wings, Vandersloot contributed 13 points, nine assists, and four steals. Kamilla Cardoso led the team with 23 points, while Ariel Atkins and Rebecca Allen added 17 and 13 points, respectively. Despite the competitive nature of the game, the Sky closed strong with a 6-0 run to secure the victory.

The Sky’s official X account celebrated the win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. Vandersloot’s achievement has been a source of pride for the franchise and its fans.

Looking ahead, the Sky will take on the Wings again on May 31, aiming to build on their newfound momentum.
