Curry’s Stunning Buzzer Beater Propels Warriors Past Nets

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Stephen Curry showcased his scoring prowess once again on March 6, as he delivered a jaw-dropping buzzer beater, leading the Golden State Warriors to a thrilling 121-119 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. The win marked the Warriors’ third consecutive triumph, solidifying their position in the competitive Western Conference.
In a dramatic turn of events during the closing seconds of the second quarter, the Warriors found themselves down by eight points. With time running out, Jimmy Butler, the Warriors’ newest acquisition, found Curry positioned at midcourt. Despite being closely guarded, Curry pivoted and launched a deep three-pointer from the midcourt logo, catching both fans and commentators off guard. The basket narrowed the halftime deficit to 60-55, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
Curry’s impressive performance did not stop there. The 11-time All-Star ended the night with an outstanding 40 points, along with four rebounds and four assists. This performance allowed him to surpass Reggie Theus and John Lucas on the all-time assists list, becoming 31st in NBA history with 6,455 career assists.
Moreover, Curry also set a new benchmark for the most games scoring 35 points or more after turning 35, with only LeBron James ahead of him. He now holds the 10th most 40-point games in NBA history, standing second among point guards.
Though having completed 16 seasons in the league, Curry appears to be in the prime of his career. Over his last five games, he has averaged 34.8 points, 7.8 assists, and 4.6 rebounds.
In the brief period he was on the court against the Nets, Curry already tallied 19 points with a shooting percentage of 58.3%, including 57.1% from beyond the arc. Butler contributed meaningfully as well, scoring 25 points and providing valuable assists, helping secure the Warriors’ tenth win since his trade from the Miami Heat.
Now seated at sixth in the Western Conference standings with a record of 35-28, the Warriors are set to face off against the Detroit Pistons on Saturday, March 8.
