Dallas Cowboys Vs Pittsburgh Steelers 2024

The highly anticipated Sunday night NFL showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers is experiencing delays due to severe weather conditions. Originally scheduled to begin at 8:20 p.m. ET, the game at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh has faced postponements due to rain and thunderstorms affecting the area.

According to NBC Sports, the game is expected to kick off at approximately 9:45 p.m. ET. Fans anticipate a late night as the teams wait for safe playing conditions. Play-by-play will be provided by Mike Tirico, with Cris Collinsworth offering color commentary and Melissa Stark reporting from the sidelines.

The Dallas Cowboys enter the game with a 2-2 record, marking their worst season start since 2020 under head coach Mike McCarthy. As management positions postseason success as the ultimate evaluation of McCarthy, owner Jerry Jones stated, “We’re trying to get this team ready and in place to really make a run at the playoffs.”

The Cowboys’ defense has shown inconsistency under the new defensive coordinator, Mike Zimmer. Before Week 5, Dallas ranked 26th in total defense, allowing an average of 355.3 yards per game.

On the other side, the Pittsburgh Steelers boast a 3-1 record, largely credited to a robust defense and quarterback Justin Fields‘ performance. Fields, acquired through a trade with the Chicago Bears, has been pivotal this season due to Russell Wilson‘s calf injury which has sidelined him since preseason.

Despite the ongoing quarterback discussion within the Steelers, head coach Mike Tomlin has yet to solidify a permanent starter as Wilson recovers. “There’s a potential for that,” Tomlin said regarding Fields retaining the starting role even upon Wilson’s return, further illustrating Pittsburgh’s flexible approach.

The Cowboys, historically known for their winning legacy alongside the Steelers, anticipate showcasing their offensive strength led by Dak Prescott. Recently traded kicker Brandon Aubrey already made an impression with a 55-yard field goal during the game’s initial proceedings.

Both teams are among the most storied in NFL history, combining for 11 Super Bowl victories. Dallas and Pittsburgh have encountered each other in three Super Bowls, making it the most common matchup in the event’s history.
