FRISCO, Texas – The Dallas Stars have traded forward Samu Tuomaala to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for defenseman Christian Kyrou, General Manager Jim Nill announced on October 30, 2025.
Tuomaala, a 22-year-old native of Oulu, Finland, will be assigned to the Texas Stars, Dallas’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate. He finished the 2024-25 season with 32 points (11 goals, 21 assists) in 46 games, ranking third on the team in assists and fourth in points.
This season, Tuomaala has yet to record any points in three games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, but has a plus-minus rating of +1. He has played 120 career AHL games, totaling 75 points (26 goals, 49 assists).
Kyrou, also 22, has not scored in his four games with Texas this season. The Toronto, Ontario native has accumulated 38 points (12 goals, 26 assists) in 97 career AHL games with the Texas Stars. He recorded seven points in seven games during a prior Calder Cup Playoff appearance.
Kyrou was drafted by the Stars in the second round (50th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft. Last season, he had a notable performance with Texas, scoring 15 points (4 goals, 11 assists) in 36 games.
In a statement, Flyers General Manager Daniel Briere confirmed the trade, stating that Kyrou will join the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The team looks to bolster its defense with Kyrou’s potential. The Flyers will host the Nashville Predators tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
