Zelig Williams Dancer Missing

Zelig Williams, a well-known dancer with performances in acclaimed productions such as “MJ The Musical” and “Hamilton,” has been reported missing in South Carolina. The 28-year-old was last seen on October 3, and his family has since called upon the public for assistance in locating him.

Hugh Jackman, a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, used his platform to reach out for help regarding Williams’ disappearance. In a message shared via Instagram, Jackman stated, “Please … if anyone has any information as to the whereabouts of Zelig Williams please reach out to your local authorities. Zelig we love you and are praying for your safe return.”

Williams had recently moved back to his hometown of Columbia, South Carolina, from New York City, where he was setting roots as a dance teacher. His mother and relatives contacted the authorities to report his disappearance after noticing it was uncharacteristic for him to be out of contact for an entire day.

Details from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department revealed that Williams’ car was discovered abandoned in a parking lot near Congaree National Park, about 20 miles from Columbia. Although there was an alert of a possible car crash received from his phone by an acquaintance in New York, the vehicle had no visible signs of an accident.

Efforts to locate Williams have been extensive, with law enforcement utilizing helicopters, boats, and drones. Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott shared with WIS10, “We’ve searched on foot [and] in the air over various locations. Other investigative techniques that we will use involve cell phones and some other things that I don’t want to discuss at this point.” Sheriff Lott also noted that Williams requires prescription medication, which complicates the situation as his well-being may be at risk.

During a press conference held by the family, emotional appeals were made for Williams’ safe return. Family members, including his mother, Kathy Williams, and cousin, Mieoki Corbin-Jacobs, shared how the disappearance has affected them profoundly. Caroline Lewis-Jones, a dance coach close to Williams, described him as “the most talented individual that I met in my life.”

Investigators have yet to dismiss the possibility of foul play, although the case remains a missing persons investigation. Community members are urged to come forward with any information that might aid in the search. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department can be contacted at (803) 576-3000, and tips can also be submitted anonymously via Crime Stoppers.

Williams’ disappearance has garnered national attention, partly because of his notable career in Broadway productions. A candlelight prayer vigil is scheduled to take place at Southeast Park as the search continues and his loved ones and community remain hopeful for his safe return.
