INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA — Quarterback Daniel Jones is having a remarkable start to the 2025 NFL season, leading the Indianapolis Colts to a perfect 3-0 record. Through three games, Jones holds the highest Total QBR in the league at 85.8 and is the only player in the last 90 years to achieve three rushing touchdowns, three passing touchdowns, and no turnovers in the first three games of a season, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Jones is completing 71.6% of his passes, racking up 816 passing yards. Coach Shane Steichen has played a key role in enhancing Jones’ performance by adapting the Colts’ offense to maximize his strengths. This includes a strong run game that allows Jones to facilitate plays, distributing the ball to a diverse group of receivers. He has connected on at least eight passes with five different players this season.

Jones shows marked improvement from last season when he struggled during his tenure with the New York Giants. This year, his average time to throw is 2.96 seconds, which ties him for the seventh fastest in the NFL with the Panthers’ QB. With only two sacks taken, Jones is delivering accurate throws quickly, showcasing his ability to read defenses and deliver under pressure.

Notably, Jones has excelled against man coverage, averaging 9.8 yards per attempt, but he stands out even more against zone coverage, completing 81.4% of his passes when facing this defensive strategy. With three touchdown runs mainly coming from quarterback sneaks, Jones’ mobility on bootleg plays has been an asset, leading to impressive performance on designed rollouts.

While Jones has performed well, a lingering concern remains his decision-making under pressure. He has been pressured 34 times this season, which ranks him mid-tier among quarterbacks. The upcoming game against the Los Angeles Rams, who are tied for the league lead in sacks, will serve as a critical test for Jones’ ability to maintain his performance under duress.

Reflecting on the challenges ahead, ESPN’s analyst Matt Bowen highlights Jones’ opportunity to either solidify his status as a rising star or fall back into a game manager role. As the Colts face formidable opponents in the coming weeks, the spotlight will be on Jones to sustain his high-level play and test his resilience as the Colts look to extend their unbeaten streak.
