David Fifita, the talented forward for the Gold Coast Titans, has officially communicated his decision to leave the team at the conclusion of the current NRL season. This announcement follows a meeting on Wednesday night between Fifita and Titans officials, where he opted to not extend his contract with the club for the next two years.

Des Hasler, the head coach of the Titans, acknowledged Fifita’s choice and expressed the club’s well wishes for his future endeavors. Hasler emphasized that while Fifita’s departure is disappointing, it is a natural part of the player movement in professional sports.

Fifita, a Queensland State of Origin representative, has not yet finalized his destination for the upcoming season, with Penrith and Sydney Roosters emerging as potential suitors for the dynamic forward.

The Penrith Panthers, reigning NRL champions, are reportedly frontrunners to secure Fifita’s services. A move to Penrith would see Fifita potentially filling the void left by outgoing player James Fisher-Harris in the Panthers’ forward pack.

On the other hand, the Sydney Roosters are also in contention to sign Fifita, offering him a four-year contract. The Roosters are keen on adding the dynamic playmaker to their roster as they prepare for forthcoming departures, including Joey Manu and Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii.

Fifita’s partner, Shaylee Bent, who hails from the Penrith region, adds an interesting dynamic to the decision-making process. Amidst these negotiations, Michael Hudson, Fifita’s manager, plays a pivotal role in facilitating discussions with the interested clubs.

Dylan Edwards and Victor Radley, players from Penrith and Sydney respectively, have praised Fifita’s abilities and expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of him joining their respective teams. The impending move signifies a shift in the NRL landscape and will undoubtedly impact the dynamics of the teams involved.

Kieran Foran, a seasoned NRL player, echoes Hasler’s sentiments about the evolving nature of the sport and the inevitability of player movements. As Fifita’s tenure with the Titans draws to a close, the rugby league fraternity awaits the official confirmation of his next destination, which is anticipated to happen in the near future.
