Dayne St. Clair Named MLS Goalkeeper of the Year for 2025
ST. PAUL, Minn. (November 3, 2025) – Dayne St. Clair of Minnesota United FC has been named Major League Soccer’s Goalkeeper of the Year for 2025. St. Clair’s impressive season included a league-best 77.93 save percentage and a career-high 10 shutouts.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper recorded 113 saves over 30 matches, leading to a goals against average of 1.00 or lower, a mark only he achieved among the league’s goalkeepers. His performance greatly aided Minnesota United, which conceded just 39 goals, the third fewest in MLS this season.
St. Clair, who was drafted seventh overall by Minnesota in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft from the University of Maryland, has been the team’s starting goalkeeper since 2022. He has started at least 26 games each season since then.
Additionally, St. Clair has served as a key player for the Canadian Men’s National Team. He earned 13 caps since the start of 2024, contributing to Canada’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In the voting for the award, St. Clair surpassed fellow finalists Matt Freese from New York City FC and Yohei Takaoka from Vancouver Whitecaps FC, securing 29.4 percent of the total vote. He received strong support from media sources, being included on nearly half of all ballots.
This award marks St. Clair as the second Canadian to win the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year honor, joining Pat Onstad, who achieved the feat in 2003 and 2005. St. Clair is also the second player from Minnesota United FC to win this award, following Vito Mannone in 2019.
The recognition comes as Minnesota United prepares for their next playoff match against Seattle Sounders FC, where they aim to advance further in the league.
