As the 2024 RBC Canadian Open commences, all eyes are on the defending champion Nick Taylor from Abbotsford, British Columbia. Taylor, who clinched victory with a remarkable 72-foot eagle putt at the Oakdale Golf & Country Club in June of 2023, looks to defend his title on Canadian soil.

Part of a prestigious trio for the opening rounds, Taylor will be joined by two notable figures – the 2019 and 2022 RBC Canadian Open champion Rory McIlroy and the recent PGA TOUR winner at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, Taylor Pendrith.

For Pendrith, witnessing Taylor’s historic win last year was incredibly inspiring and goosebump-inducing. The tournament holds significant value for Canadian players, providing a platform to shine in front of home fans.

Rory McIlroy, a two-time champion, reflects on the vibrant atmosphere of his 2019 victory. The Irish golf star compares the energy of Canadian golf fans to that of hockey enthusiasts, highlighting the electrifying environment at the iconic Rink hole.

To commemorate Taylor’s milestone victory, Golf Canada has released a special edition Nick Taylor bobblehead with proceeds supporting the First Tee program.

Taylor, reliving his heroic putt, expresses gratitude for the confidence gained from his Canadian Open win, which propelled him to victory at the TPC Scottsdale earlier this year. As the defending champion, Taylor anticipates the pressure and privilege of performing in front of dedicated fans.
