The highly anticipated film “Devara: Part 1,” starring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, has achieved a momentous opening at the box office, surpassing the day one collections of its competitors “Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank” and “Jawan.” On the first day of its release, “Devara” garnered approximately ₹77 crore in India, affirming its strong domestic presence.

Helmed by renowned director Koratala Siva, the pan-Indian film was released in multiple languages including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, and has amassed a remarkable ₹140 crore worldwide. A report by Sacnilk highlighted its successful debut, noting a ₹68.6 crore contribution from the Telugu version alone. Additional earnings came from the Hindi version, contributing ₹7 crore, and marginal income from the Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam versions.

“Stree 2,” directed by Amar Kaushik and featuring Shraddha Kapoor, has also opened to a positive response with a first-day gross of ₹46 crore, which includes ₹8.35 crore from previews. The film, which also features a cameo by Akshay Kumar, has been reported as the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024 so far, with an opening weekend collection of ₹60 crore.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan‘s “Jawan,” directed by Tamil filmmaker Atlee, was previously the holder of the highest opening collection for a Hindi film with ₹75 crore on its launch day. This pan-India release also featured notable stars like Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, contributing to its worldwide first-day earnings of ₹129.6 crore.

Despite “Devara”‘s impressive takeoff, it did not eclipse “Kalki 2898 AD,” another Telugu blockbuster starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan. “Kalki,” noted for its grand opening of ₹95 crore in India, holds the record for the largest first-day box office collection in the country for 2024. Additionally, “Devara” ranks fourth in the list of highest-grossing Indian films at the worldwide box office, trailing behind
