Disney Teams Up with Harry Styles’ Pleasing for Exclusive Fantasia-Inspired Collection
For the first time, Disney and Harry Styles‘ product line Pleasing are collaborating on an exclusive venture, launching a collection named Disney Fantasia x Pleasing. This collection includes apparel, accessories, nail products, and skincare items inspired by Disney’s classic film, “Fantasia.”
Since its inception in November 2021, Pleasing, co-founded by music star Harry Styles, has diversified its offerings to include not only nail polish and skincare products but also apparel and perfumes. The latest Disney-themed offering celebrates three iconic sequences from “Fantasia”—”The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” “Pastoral Symphony,” and “The Dance of The Hours”—through 30 unique pieces featuring original artwork.
Tasia Filippatos, President of Disney Consumer Products, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, “Partnering with brands like Pleasing, that are the hallmark of this generation, allows us to bring the fun and nostalgia of Mickey Mouse and Fantasia to modern fans in new and relevant ways.” Filippatos highlighted that combining Disney’s imaginative storytelling with Pleasing’s distinct style results in a “unique and truly magical” collection.
The collaboration has extended beyond product lines into retail experiences. A pop-up store situated in the former NBA Experience building at Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida, is open until October 27, 2024. This limited-time event offers Disney and Pleasing enthusiasts a chance to explore and purchase the collection in person. The NBA Experience, which initially launched in 2019, closed amid the COVID-19 pandemic and has since subsisted as a flexible space for various events, such as a Star Wars virtual reality exhibit in 2022.
Pleasing’s creative team dived into Disney’s archives to develop the new line, drawing immediate inspiration from the colorful and musically rich “Fantasia.” Harry Lambert, Pleasing’s Creative Director, shared his experience, “Visiting the Disney archives and witnessing the beautiful illustrations was truly inspiring, especially for someone who has cherished Disney since childhood.” He noted how “Fantasia” resonated with Pleasing’s aesthetic, calling it “a natural fit” for collaboration.
Disney’s collaboration with celebrities and luxury brands is not unprecedented. The renowned corporation has engaged in numerous high-profile collaborations, including a $5.3 billion consumer products segment in 2023. Over the past decade, Disney has partnered with prominent designers such as Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, and Gucci, among others. These collaborations often stem from a shared nostalgia and connection to Disney’s culturally iconic entertainment.
Most recently, during Paris Fashion Week 2024, Disney partnered with Coperni, leading to a groundbreaking runway show inspired by Disney’s array of characters and stories. Disney continues to cultivate similar partnerships, exemplified by its ongoing collaboration with Gap, which extends to sports events and media appearances under the umbrella of Disney’s extensive synergy-driven strategy.
