Tamil Nadu Minister and DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin expressed his party’s disapproval of constructing a temple following the demolition of a mosque. Stalin mentioned that religion and politics should not be intertwined. He referred to his grandfather, MK Karunanidhi, who had stated that the DMK does not oppose any specific religion.

Stalin clarified, ‘We don’t have a problem with a temple coming up there. We are not in agreement with the construction of a temple after demolishing a mosque.’ He highlighted the demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992 as an example.

Stalin further highlighted the opinion of the DMK Treasurer, T R Baalu, who emphasized the need to keep spirituality and politics separate.

The consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is scheduled for January 22 and has received invitations from prominent figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, politicians, actors, and celebrities. However, opposition parties like Congress, CPI(M), and Trinamool Congress have declined the invitation, citing political motives behind the event.
