Nick Westbrook Ikhine Nfl Signing Miami Dolphins

MIAMI, Fla. — The Miami Dolphins have signed wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to a two-year contract worth $6.5 million, including $3.2 million guaranteed, following a standout 2024 season with the Tennessee Titans. The announcement was made by NFL insider Mike Garafolo on Twitter.

Westbrook-Ikhine, 27, had a career year with the Titans, accumulating 497 receiving yards and a personal-best nine touchdowns on just 32 receptions. He participated in all 17 regular-season games, making nine starts. His most notable performance came during a Week 11 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, where he recorded six receptions for 117 yards, including a 98-yard touchdown.

After the season, Westbrook-Ikhine expressed his approach to free agency. “Right now, it’s going to be about getting the body right, the mind right, to get ready,” he stated on the Titans’ official website. “It’s not the first time, so we’ll see how it shakes out.”

As he enters his sixth NFL season, Westbrook-Ikhine has compiled 126 catches for 1,773 yards and 19 touchdowns across 78 games. His ability to find the end zone was particularly noteworthy last season, with six of his nine touchdowns coming in the red zone.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta Falcons are eyeing available talent to bolster their red-zone offense, which finished 20th in the league last season with a conversion rate of 54.7%. Acquiring a player like Westbrook-Ikhine could significantly enhance their scoring efficiency, especially considering his impressive touchdown total paired with limited targets.

Westbrook-Ikhine’s nine touchdowns tied for the ninth-most in the NFL, despite having fewer targets than surrounding players. For reference, Ja'Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals caught 17 touchdowns on 175 targets, while the Falcons’ own Drake London achieved nine touchdowns with 158 targets.

Last season, the Falcons totaled 43 touchdowns, with 29 occurring within the 20-yard line and 12 via passing plays. London led the team in red-zone touchdown catches with seven, followed by tight end Kyle Pitts with two, while several others contributed minimally.

With strong competition expected for the WR3 position during training camp, the addition of Westbrook-Ikhine could bring valuable depth and experience to a receiving corps that lost Rondale Moore to injury last season. While not as physically diverse as some existing options, Westbrook-Ikhine offers a reliable target capable of capitalizing on scoring opportunities.
