Ducks Dominate Devils in 4-1 Victory at Honda Center
ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Anaheim Ducks secured a decisive 4-1 win over the New Jersey Devils on Sunday night at the Honda Center. This victory marks Anaheim’s third consecutive win, boosting their record to 9-4-0. The Ducks’ solid performance featured contributions from several players, including Beckett Sennecke, who scored a goal and added an assist, and Lukas Dostal, who made 32 saves.
The Ducks quickly set the tone of the game, scoring three goals within the first two periods. Sennecke opened the scoring less than five minutes into the game, finding the back of the net on Anaheim’s first shot, as he maneuvered past New Jersey’s defense and finished with a precise shot under goalie Jake Allen’s right armpit.
In the second period, Anaheim extended their lead, with forward Cutter Gauthier scoring from an almost impossible angle, marking his team-leading seventh goal of the season. This goal came just 1:54 into the second period, putting the Ducks up 3-0. The Devils struggled to contain the Ducks’ offensive pressure during this stretch.
New Jersey finally found the net in the third period when Jack Hughes scored after a rush led by Sennecke. However, the Ducks managed to keep the Devils at bay, with Dostal standing firm against late-game pressure. Chris Kreider sealed the win for the Ducks with an empty-net goal with 1:54 left on the clock.
Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe expressed disappointment in his team’s performance, particularly after a previous win against the Los Angeles Kings, where they had allowed 43 shots on goal. Despite their recent struggles, the Devils will look to regroup in their next matchup.
Up next, the Devils will host the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday, while the Ducks prepare to face the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday.
