Eagles Fan Fired After Viral Misogynistic Rant at Packers Fan
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — A Philadelphia Eagles fan who unleashed a misogynistic tirade against a female Green Bay Packers fan during Sunday night’s NFC wild-card game has been fired from his job and banned from future events at Lincoln Financial Field, officials confirmed Tuesday.
The incident, captured on cellphone video, occurred during the Eagles’ 31-17 victory over the Packers. The footage shows a man in an Eagles jacket verbally abusing Ally Keller, a Packers fan seated in front of him. Keller did not respond to the remarks, which escalated as the game progressed.
Online sleuths identified the fan as Ryan Caldwell, a business analyst at New Jersey-based management consulting firm BCT Partners. The company swiftly condemned Caldwell’s behavior and announced his termination late Tuesday. “The language was vile, it was disgusting, it was unacceptable and horrific,” said Randal Pinkett, founder of BCT Partners. “It was diametrically opposed to the values that we espouse at BCT.”
In a statement to NBC News, Caldwell apologized for his actions. “What began as banter with two Packers fans sitting near me escalated to something more serious, and I said things that were unacceptable,” he said. “I want to sincerely apologize to Ms. Keller for those words, and to my wife, family, and friends, my former employer and colleagues, Packer fans, Eagle fans, the Philadelphia Eagles, the City of Philadelphia, and all who were offended.”
Keller and her fiancé, Alex Basara, described the incident as starting with playful banter before turning hostile. “He just said, ‘Actually, you’re not even good-looking enough to be talking to me,’” Keller recalled. Basara said recording the incident helped de-escalate the situation, though Keller expressed concern about the hostile environment. “If it did turn into an altercation or something physical, all they see is me messing with an Eagles fan, and then I become the target,” she said.
Philadelphia sports fans have long faced criticism for their behavior, with incidents dating back to the late 1990s when a courtroom was established at Veterans Stadium to handle unruly fans. The Eagles organization has not yet commented on the incident but confirmed Caldwell is banned from future games.
