Ecu Pirates Football Homecoming Game

Greenville, N.C. — East Carolina University (5-3, 3-1 American Conference) is set to host the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on Saturday at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. during Homecoming weekend, making the match significant for both teams.

The Pirates are coming off a strong 45-14 victory over Temple University, showcasing a powerful performance with 614 total yards, including 358 rushing yards. Head Coach Blake Harrell has expressed pride in the team’s focus and preparation throughout this season.

“We’ve worked extremely hard to put ourselves in this position and we’re excited about playing meaningful games down the stretch,” said Harrell.

The upcoming game not only holds importance for ECU’s standing in the American Athletic Conference, but it also offers a chance for the home crowd to support the team as they push towards bowl eligibility. Athletic Director Jon Gilbert emphasized the need for strong attendance, promoting $12 tickets for the upper-level seats.

On the other side, UNCC (1-7, 1-4 American Conference) seeks to improve its performance after struggling this season. The 49ers are hoping to find stability at quarterback, as three players — Grayson Loftis, Zach Wilcke, and Conner Harrell — have all played significant roles.

Saturday’s matchup presents a crucial test for UNCC’s defense against ECU’s balanced offensive attack. The Pirates are currently tied for third place in the conference alongside Tulane University and the University of South Florida, making this game vital for the standings.

As the ECU community gears up for Homecoming festivities, over 300 letterwinners will return to campus to celebrate, further adding to the excitement in Greenville. Pirates fans are encouraged to attend and create a lively atmosphere to help propel their team to victory.
