Emma Raducanu has experienced another challenging year plagued by injuries, affecting her performance and participation in several tennis tournaments in 2024. The British tennis player, who gained prominence with her stunning victory at the US Open in 2021, appeared poised for a comeback earlier in the summer.

In the 2024 season, Raducanu made an optimistic start participating in tournaments such as the Nottingham Open and Eastbourne. Her promising form continued as she reached the fourth round at a Grand Slam event, an achievement not seen since her US Open victory.

However, her upward trajectory was disrupted by injuries that forced her to withdraw from several important competitions. The 21-year-old had to step back from the Korea Open due to an injury, followed closely by her withdrawal from the Beijing Open, citing ligament damage in her foot. This injury also led to her absence from the Wuhan Open, further derailing her plans for the season.

Earlier this year, Raducanu expressed her intention to participate in as many events as possible before the year concluded. In an interview with the official WTA website, she stated, “I think the rest of the year, as long as I’m healthy, I’m going to try and finish the season and play as many matches as I can. It’s something I’m really light on since the grass through the (Washington) DC period.”

Raducanu also emphasized her desire to gain more match experience, stating she had “three hours of match experience” this year, which she hoped would aid her in improving her game for upcoming tournaments. She acknowledged the lack of competitive play due to her injuries, but she remained eager to compete before the season’s end.

As the year draws to a close, Raducanu’s participation in the Hong Kong Open, scheduled for the end of October, remains uncertain. The event is expected to be her final appearance for 2024, with her focus shifting to the Australia Open in January 2025.

Meanwhile, on the WTA Tour, notable matches are taking place, including top seed players facing off against competitors such as Katerina Siniakova, Viktoriya Tomova, Zheng Qinwen, and others. These matches highlight the competitive spirit and talent present in women’s tennis.
