Enea Bastianini Dominates MotoGP Thailand GP Sprint as Jorge Martin Extends Championship Lead
Enea Bastianini secured a commanding victory in the MotoGP Thailand Grand Prix Sprint race, held at the Buriram circuit. The Ducati Team rider capitalized on a chaotic start involving title rivals Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia to take the lead and maintain it until the checkered flag.
The drama unfolded at the first corner when Martin’s aggressive move down the inside sent both him and Bagnaia wide, allowing Bastianini to seize the opportunity and take the lead. Bastianini controlled the race from there, extending his lead to a winning margin of 1.357 seconds over Martin.
Martin, despite slipping to fifth place initially, worked his way back through the field, overtaking Pedro Acosta and Marc Marquez before making a crucial pass on Bagnaia at turns 10 and 11. This move secured Martin second place and extended his championship lead over Bagnaia to 22 points with five races remaining in the season.
Bagnaia finished third, unable to recover fully from the early skirmish. Marc Marquez took fourth place, ahead of his brother Alex Marquez, who rounded out the top five. The top eight positions were dominated by Ducati riders, with Franco Morbidelli, Marco Bezzecchi, and Fabio Di Giannantonio following closely behind. Brad Binder of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing was the only non-Ducati rider to score points, finishing ninth.
The Sprint race set the stage for an intense full-length Grand Prix on Sunday, with the championship battle between Martin and Bagnaia heating up.
