ESPN Analyst Erin Dolan Bets on Herself with New Contract
NEW YORK, NY — Erin Dolan, a 29-year-old ESPN sports betting analyst, recently made a significant move in her career by negotiating a multi-year contract renewal with the network, marking her first time handling such negotiations on her own. Dolan announced her new deal, which was revealed by ESPN on September 4, in an interview with The New York Post.
“I’m really happy about the deal,” Dolan said. “I negotiated that myself, which I was really proud of this time around. I’m really trying to be more business-minded and really just doing it myself.” Dolan, who joined ESPN in December 2021, entered the negotiations with clear expectations. While the exact details of her contract remain private, Dolan emphasized the importance of defining her value in the company.
“I really want what I want, but also, I have to come up with the value to provide the company as well,” she explained. “There’s a mutual understanding between us. They gain a lot from me and I gain a lot from them.” As part of her renewed contract, Dolan will be featured on various shows including “ESPN BET Live,” “SportsCenter,” and “Sunday NFL Countdown,” showcasing her versatility.
In her career, Dolan is determined to maintain a balance of entertainment and professionalism in her work. “I feel like I’ve done a good job at keeping the line of entertainment and fun, while also being professional,” Dolan noted. She manages to produce segments and create her own betting picks without relying on a teleprompter.
Dolan shared her experience of facing criticism, particularly as a woman in the male-dominated sports betting industry. She turned off direct messages on social media for safety and to avoid negative comments about her appearance. “I think no matter what, I’ll always have a target on me in general,” she said. “But I find them actually hilarious.” Despite the obstacles, Dolan’s passion for her work remains strong.
Outside her professional life, Dolan enjoys spending time at the beach and with her boyfriend, Alec Bohm, a third baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies. Reflecting on her career, Dolan acknowledged that she once considered leaving the industry because she didn’t want to be a traditional reporter or host. However, she stayed and found her niche as sports betting became legalized shortly after her graduation from Penn State University.
Dolan’s background includes on-air roles at various sportsbooks and pre-ESPN work as a sports reporter in Philadelphia. Her journey shows that she not only bets on sports but also places her bets on her own future.
