LAHAINA, Hawaii — No. 23 North Carolina State aims to rebound after a disappointing defeat when they face Boise State on Tuesday, November 25, at 2:30 PM ET during the Maui Invitational’s consolation bracket. The Wolfpack (4-1) fell 85-74 to Seton Hall in the opening round, marking the first loss for a ranked team against an unranked opponent this season.

NC State struggled against the Pirates, trailing early and never recovering after a 9-0 run by Seton Hall in the second half. “They were more aggressive than us, they were tougher than us,” said NC State head coach Will Wade. He pointed out that their defense was a significant concern, allowing Seton Hall to shoot 52% from the field.

In the matchup against Boise State (4-2), the Wolfpack will need to improve their performance on the glass after being out-rebounded 37-30 against Seton Hall. Key player Musa Sagnia, a freshman, was hindered by an injury in the last game and his status remains uncertain for the upcoming game. Senior Darrion Williams, who was held to just 12 points against Seton Hall, is also crucial to NC State’s chances.

Boise State, coached by Leon Rice, narrowly lost to USC, 70-67, in their first match of the tournament. The Broncos are coming off a solid season and will be looking to capitalize on NC State’s defensive vulnerabilities. Coach Rice noted the challenge posed by a top-ranked team on a neutral court: “We get to play a Top 25 team. It’s a quick turnaround, and we need to respond immediately.”

With both teams hungry for a win, the upcoming clash promises to be a competitive battle. The Wolfpack hope to regain their previous scoring form, having averaged 100.8 points per game before the loss, and are predicted to win against Boise State.
