Fernando Carmona Named Semifinalist for Prestigious Campbell Trophy
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas offensive lineman Fernando Carmona has been named a semifinalist for the 2025 William V. Campbell Trophy, recognized by the National Football Foundation (NFF) for his achievements in academics and athletics. The announcement was made on September 25, 2025.
The Campbell Trophy honors the nation’s top scholar-athlete in college football, assessing academic success, on-field performance, and leadership qualities. Carmona earned his degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in the spring of 2025 and is currently pursuing a second bachelor’s degree in Exploring Arts and Sciences.
Carmona’s academic accolades include selections to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and the Mountain West All-Academic Team while he played at San Jose State. On the field, he has received multiple honors, being named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week twice and recognized as Third-Team All-SEC by league coaches in 2024.
As a testament to his durability, the Las Vegas native has started 41 consecutive games for Arkansas. He has contributed significantly to the team’s offensive success, helping them achieve a program-record five consecutive games with over 500 yards of total offense.
The NFF will announce 12 to 16 finalists on October 22, and each finalist will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship, as part of the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments. The laureate of the Campbell Trophy will see their scholarship increase to $25,000 and will be revealed at the 67th NFF Annual Awards Dinner on December 9, 2025, at the Bellagio Resort in Las Vegas.
Carmona is among 13 semifinalists from the Southeastern Conference, making a mark as one of the leading scholar-athletes in the country.
