First Class Cricketer Sarfaraz Khan Selected For India Squad Against England: Stats

After a long wait, Mumbai batsman Sarfaraz Khan has finally been included in the Indian Test team. The right-handed batsman, who has been knocking on the doors of the Indian team for quite some time now, has been chosen for the second Test against England. He will fill in the spot left vacant by the injured KL Rahul. Sarfaraz, who made his first-class debut in December 2014 at the age of 17, has now earned a spot in the Indian Test team after a hiatus of nine years. His consistent performances over the past few years made it difficult for the selectors to ignore him. Whenever the team was announced and Sarfaraz was not included, it invited criticism towards the selectors. But with Rahul’s injury, the fortunes have turned for this player.

Sarfaraz has been playing middle-order batting for Mumbai. Rahul has also been batting in the middle-order for India in recent times. The second Test match between India and England will be played in Visakhapatnam from 2nd February. Team India suffered a 28-run defeat against England in the first match in Hyderabad, trailing the series 0-1. The upcoming match will be a crucial one for India as they face pressure to level the series. It remains to be seen if Sarfaraz gets the opportunity to debut.
