Florida Panthers Acquire Vladimir Tarasenko From Ottawa Senators For Draft Picks

The Florida Panthers have made a significant move, acquiring Vladimir Tarasenko from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for draft picks. The trade was finalized on Wednesday, with the Senators receiving a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and a third-round choice in the 2025 NHL Draft.

Tarasenko, who signed a one-year contract with the Senators in July, has been a key player for Ottawa this season, contributing 41 points in 57 games. The Panthers will retain 50% of his salary in the deal.

Steve Staios, the General Manager of the Senators, expressed satisfaction with the return in the trade. Tarasenko’s desire to play for a competitive team close to his family led to the decision, as he joins the Florida Panthers, who currently lead the NHL with 90 points.

With the Panthers, Tarasenko is expected to play a significant role alongside players like Sam Bennett and Matthew Tkachuk. His experience, including a Stanley Cup win with the St. Louis Blues in 2019, adds depth to the Panthers’ roster as they aim for playoff success.

Bill Zito, the General Manager of the Panthers, praised Tarasenko’s skill and scoring ability, underscoring his importance as the team heads into the latter part of the season with high aspirations.

Tarasenko’s arrival in Florida marks a new chapter in his career, having previously played for the St. Louis Blues and briefly with the New York Rangers. His impact on the Panthers’ lineup is expected to be significant as they strive towards their goal of competing for the Stanley Cup once again.
