Former Cricketers Offer Advice To Shreyas Iyer, India Gear Up For Third Test Against England

Former cricketers and experts have offered guidance to Shreyas Iyer as India prepares for the upcoming third Test against England in Rajkot.

Sanjay Manjrekar, a former Indian batsman, advised Iyer to focus on improving his defensive skills to succeed in the challenging format of Test cricket.

Iyer, despite having a strong history in Test cricket, has struggled in recent matches, prompting selectors to omit him from the squad for the last three Test games against England.

In his last seven Test matches, Iyer has only managed 187 runs in 12 innings at an average of 17.00, with a top score of just 35.

Manjrekar emphasized the importance for Iyer to solidify his defensive game and not solely rely on counter-attacking strategies to excel in Test cricket.

As India prepares for the third Test, the inclusion of KL Rahul in the squad as a specialist batsman is anticipated, while the wicketkeeper position remains uncertain, with calls for exploring other options including Rishabh Pant.

The third Test is set to commence on February 15 in Rajkot, with India likely to continue with a bowling combination of two seamers and a finger spinner, leveraging the skills of paceman Mohammed Siraj in the lineup.
