Former Miss India Tripura winner, Rinky Chakma, has tragically passed away at the age of 28 after a courageous two-year fight against cancer.

Rinky Chakma, who clinched the coveted Miss India Tripura crown in 2017, succumbed to the relentless disease after a prolonged battle that began with a diagnosis of a Phyllodes Tumor, a form of breast cancer, in 2022.

Despite undergoing surgery to combat the initial stages of the cancer, the malignancy aggressively spread to her lungs and later attacked her brain, leading to a brain tumor that proved to be fatal.

Reports indicate that the former beauty queen was in a critical state and was admitted to Max Hospital Saket on February 22, where she was placed on a ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit due to the severe impact on one of her lungs, which was nearly non-functional.

In a poignant Instagram post shared last month, Rinky Chakma revealed the financial challenges her family faced due to the extensive treatment she required, having exhausted their savings over the past two years in her cancer battle.

During her Miss India journey, Rinky Chakma showcased her compassionate side by winning the sub-titles of Miss Congeniality and Beauty With a Purpose. Her achievements in the pageant world included participating in the prestigious Miss World competition.
