French President Emmanuel Macron Arrives In India For Republic Day Celebrations

French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in India for the 75th Republic Day celebrations, where he has been invited as the chief guest. This visit marks the 25th-anniversary celebrations of the India-France Strategic Partnership. Macron, who has previously visited India in March 2018 and September 2023, has welcomed PM Modi to France on four occasions. He is accompanied by a ministerial delegation and a business delegation of French companies.

Macron’s visit started with his arrival in Rajasthan‘s capital, Jaipur, where he received a warm welcome. Today, he will visit the famous landmarks of Amber Fort, Jantar Mantar, and Hawa Mahal. The leaders will hold a roadshow from Jantar Mantar to Hawa Mahal, waving at the cheering crowds along the way. They will also visit the Jantar Mantar observatory, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Macron will further engage in talks and hold a meeting at hotel Rambagh Palace. This visit holds significance in boosting India-EU trade relations, as the ongoing negotiations for a comprehensive trade agreement between India and the EU are expected to benefit from Macron’s visit.

The presence of Macron as the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations highlights the strong relationship between France and India. It also reinforces the importance of the India-France Strategic Partnership, particularly in the areas of defense and trade. This visit not only strengthens bilateral ties but also showcases the cultural and historical richness of Jaipur and India.
