Freshman Nate Frazier Steps Up for Georgia Bulldogs Amid Injury Concerns
In the midst of injury concerns, the Georgia Bulldogs are relying heavily on freshman running back Nate Frazier to contribute significantly to their lineup. This comes as the team prepares to face the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday, November 9.
Trevor Etienne, Georgia’s leading rusher, is dealing with a rib injury that forced him to miss the second half of the game against the Florida Gators. Although Etienne is expected to play against Ole Miss, his status is being closely monitored due to pain management issues.
Coach Kirby Smart expressed optimism about Etienne’s condition, stating, “Etienne, I feel good about. He felt good yesterday and did some things yesterday with our guys… The big thing is just his ability to sustain and deal with a little bit of pain because he’s going to have some there. But he’s a tough kid, and I think he’ll do well with it.” However, the team is also preparing for the possibility that Etienne may not be at full strength.
In the event Etienne is unable to perform at his best, Nate Frazier and Cash Jones are poised to step up. Frazier had a notable performance against Florida, carrying the ball 19 times for 82 yards and scoring a touchdown. He is seen as a key player who will need to continue his strong performance against Ole Miss, which boasts one of the top run defenses in the nation.
Georgia is already without running backs Branson Robinson and Roderick Robinson for the Ole Miss game, making the contributions of Frazier and Jones even more crucial. Cash Jones, known for his receiving skills, hauled in three catches for 37 yards and a touchdown against Florida, further emphasizing the depth and versatility of Georgia’s running back corps[3]).
