Garth Brooks And Trisha Yearwood Together

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, two of country music’s most beloved stars, have been married for nearly two decades, but their connection goes back much further. The couple first met in 1987 through a mutual friend, musician Kent Blazy, when Brooks was still married to his first wife, Sandy Mahl.

At the time of their initial meeting, Brooks felt an inexplicable connection to Yearwood, despite being newly married. He recalled this moment in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, describing the feeling as similar to when you meet your future spouse, even though he had been married to Mahl for just 13 months.

Brooks and Yearwood maintained a professional relationship for many years, collaborating on music projects, including their Grammy-winning song “In Another’s Eyes” in 1998. However, they did not start dating until after Brooks’ divorce from Mahl in 2001.

Their romantic relationship blossomed, and Brooks proposed to Yearwood in May 2005 onstage at Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, California. They married later that year in a private ceremony at their home in Oklahoma.

Since their marriage, the couple has continued to collaborate both musically and in other ventures. Recently, they appeared in a six-episode docuseries titled “Friends in Low Places,” where they built a honky-tonk in Nashville. In November 2023, they performed a moving rendition of John Lennon’s “Imagine” at a tribute service for the late Rosalynn Carter.

Yearwood has also spoken about her role as a stepmother to Brooks’ three daughters from his previous marriage: Taylor, August, and Allie. Despite initial challenges, she has expressed deep affection for the girls and the significant role they play in her life.
