Giannis Antetokounmpo Injury News Cleveland Cavaliers

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Milwaukee Bucks All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo left Monday night’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second quarter with a left groin strain. The injury raises concerns about his availability as the Bucks navigate their current season.

Antetokounmpo scored 14 points, along with five rebounds and four assists, in just 13 minutes before exiting the game. He went to the locker room with 3:03 remaining in the second quarter after committing a foul and did not return.

Bucks head coach Doc Rivers confirmed the injury following the game, stating that the next step involves imaging tests on Antetokounmpo’s groin. “We won’t know anything until tomorrow. It didn’t look great, I can tell you that,” Rivers said.

The incident may have occurred earlier in the game, as Rivers mentioned that Antetokounmpo indicated the injury was fine after he initially grabbed his groin in the first quarter. However, he seemed to have aggravated it later in the match.

Entering the game, Antetokounmpo was leading the Eastern Conference in scoring with an average of 31.2 points per game. He was also listed as probable on the injury report due to left knee patellar tendinopathy.

The Bucks are currently sitting at 8-6 in the Eastern Conference and have struggled recently, losing six of their last ten games. They will have a few days to recover before their next match-up against the Philadelphia 76ers.

<p“We’ve got some work to do,” Rivers noted. “There’s always a silver lining. I don’t know what it is. It doesn’t look good right now. But we’re going to either find somebody or find something to run that will pay dividends later.”
