Grace Warrior Irwin Helps Rescue Turtle in Princess Dress
BEERWAH, Australia — Grace Warrior Irwin, the 3-year-old daughter of Bindi Irwin, recently stepped into the role of wildlife rescuer, donning a pink princess dress to help save a turtle in a heartwarming video shared by her uncle, Robert Irwin.
The video, posted this week, shows Grace assisting her uncle in relocating a wild turtle found wandering near a footpath at Australia Zoo. Robert, a wildlife conservationist and host of ‘I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here,’ explained the rescue in the clip. “I just finished doing a reptile tour here at Australia Zoo,” he said. “Someone raised their hand and said, ‘I don’t have a question, but I just found this wandering around a footpath in the zoo.'”
Recognizing the turtle as a wild animal, Robert decided to relocate it to a safer area. “I think this is a job for my niece,” he said, referring to Grace. The toddler, dressed in a pink ballerina dress and matching sneakers, confidently carried the turtle to a nearby creek and released it into the water.
Terri Irwin, Grace’s grandmother, commented on the video, “Compassion for another living being is the greatest gift.” Fans also praised the family’s dedication to wildlife conservation, with one writing, “Cutest rescue. Now THIS is how you teach the future generations.”
Grace and Robert share a close bond, often documented on social media. Earlier this month, Robert shared photos of Grace giving him “nose boops” while wearing a Minnie Mouse-themed princess dress. “The adventures of Uncle Robert and Grace (AKA Minnie Mouse!),” he captioned the post.
In a May interview, Robert spoke about how he and Bindi are keeping the memory of their late father, Steve Irwin, alive for Grace. “We’ll turn on a documentary of dad, and it’s amazing how Grace gravitates towards that,” he said. “Sometimes there’ll be really early footage of dad doing something cool, like catching a croc, and she’ll go, ‘Oh look, it’s Uncle Robert.’ We’ll say, ‘No, no, no, that’s your grandpa.’ That’s the most meaningful thing.”
Grace’s early involvement in wildlife conservation highlights the Irwin family’s enduring legacy. As she grows, the young Irwin is already showing a deep connection to the natural world, much like her famous family.
