Green Bay Packers Rookie MarShawn Lloyd Set to Return from Injury
Green Bay Packers rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd is on the verge of returning to the field after a lengthy absence due to an ankle injury. Lloyd, who was drafted by the Packers and had a promising start to his NFL career, suffered the injury during Week 2’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. Since then, he has been on injured reserve, missing several games for the team.
The Packers have opened Lloyd’s 21-day practice window, indicating that he is eligible to participate in team activities and is close to full recovery. This move clears the way for Lloyd to be placed on the 53-man roster before the upcoming game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. While it is not confirmed that he will play in Week 11, teammate and lead back Josh Jacobs has suggested that Lloyd’s return could be imminent.
Lloyd’s activation comes at a time when the Packers have an open roster spot, following the trade of pass rusher Preston Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers during the NFL trade deadline. The team’s backfield has been managed by backups Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks, who have been productive in Lloyd’s absence. However, the Packers’ offense is expected to benefit from Lloyd’s return, given his explosive and shifty playmaking abilities.
Fantasy football managers are particularly optimistic about Lloyd’s return, as he presents a significant opportunity in a split backfield that has historically produced strong fantasy performances. Head coach Matt LaFleur is likely to involve Lloyd heavily in the offense once he is fully healed, which could make him a valuable addition to fantasy lineups.
