FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A.J. Greer will make his Stanley Cup Final debut for the Florida Panthers in Game 3 against the Edmonton Oilers Monday night after missing the first two games due to an undisclosed injury, Coach Paul Maurice announced.

Greer last played in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals, where the Panthers defeated the Carolina Hurricanes. This postseason, he has recorded two goals and one assist in 12 games, contributing to a strong fourth line alongside teammates.

The Panthers hold a 10-2 record this postseason when Greer is in the lineup, and he replaces Jesper Boqvist for the crucial game set to take place at Amerant Bank Arena.

“I really hated watching from up top and not being with the guys,” Greer said after the team’s morning skate. “But I had to make a decision that was going to be helpful to the team.”

Greer emphasized he aims to perform his role effectively upon returning. “I’m not trying to change anything,” he said. “I just want to come back to the way that I usually play.”

His path to the NHL has not been easy. Back in 2021, Greer considered leaving the league for Europe amid struggles in his career. However, he decided to accept a limited role in the NHL, which allowed him to develop and maintain his dream.

“I had to embrace the role of playing limited minutes,” Greer reflected. “I learned to do the right things whether I was on the ice for six, seven minutes or 10.”

With his confidence growing, Greer prepares for a pivotal moment in his career. “These are the moments you really work for,” he said. “It’s definitely a dream come true.”

Game 3 starts at 8 p.m. ET, and fans are eager to see Greer make his mark as the Panthers strive for victory against the Oilers.
